Geoff Major’s 2014 charity adventure ‘129 Club’

Artwork designed by Rushfirth Creative – http://www.rushfirthcreative.co.uk/

Geoff Major’s 2014 charity adventure idea needs professional 3rd party support to project plan it, risk assess the route, validate the proposed route, support the 174 other people required to take part in it, and build a multi-channel PR campaign, all capable of delivering £100 000 for charity.

Geoff’s first step is to get 129 companies to sponsor the planning of the event, with an investment of just £129 each. All money will be managed through an accountancy company. In return there are a series of benefits for the companies (or individuals) involved, including: –

a) Their company logo (or symbol, or photograph of a loved one) on each top to be worn by 7 people as part of the final leg of a world-first journey. All 129 logo’s will be featured on each top.

b) The same logo (or symbol or photograph) on a stand at the north of England’s biggest business conference and exhibition; the Yorkshire Mafia Conference 2013 at the Royal Armouries in Leeds.

c) Logo (or similar) to be featured in every PR release and be promoted to the fore in 2 of the PR release, along with 4 others per PR release.

d) 12 free places to take part in the final leg of the adventure; that’s a 1:11 chance to win a seat that would cost you £500, and will have significant press coverage.

e) 3 lucky ‘129 Club’ members will have their logo published in a paper or magazine article; winners to be picked at random.

SMileS SMS are part of the ‘129 Club’ and look forward to helping Geoff with his 2014 charity challenge.

Yorkshire Mafia Conference 2012

After weeks of prepping for the event, sorting out our stand and tweeting all about it….the biggest conference in the North was finally upon us, The Yorkshire Mafia Conference.

The conference was held at the Royal Armouires in Leeds on the 21st and 22nd of March. As soon as we arrived at the event the atmosphere had a really buzz and everyone was full of enthusiasm for what the two day conference had in store. With around 150 businesses exhibiting at the conference, over 3000 delegates expected over the two days and an exciting seminar list the event was set to be a great networking event for all involved full of opportunities and prospects.

We were exhibiting at the conference in the Armouries Hall on stand 8. We’d already set up our stand on Tuesday afternoon so only had a few last minute things to do to get our stand ready, however our trusty Touch Tower which we take along to all conferences blew the screen just before the conference started. It tripped all the electric on our side of the conference hall, leaving many of the stands without electricity. Although the Touch Tower was still a good attraction to have at our stand we couldn’t manage to fix it to load our presentation about our products and services, plus we had lists of memorable geographical numbers which where for sale and available on the day.

It was a fantastic location for our stand as we were right next to the entrance for the seminars being held in the Bury Theatre, which meant we had a good flow of traffic passing by our stand throughout the two days. If you want to know more about what was going on at our stand visit our previous blog post – ‘Why you should visit us at Stand 8 at The Yorkshire Mafia Conference.’   Read the rest of this entry

Why you should visit us at Stand 8 at The Yorkshire Mafia Conference

The Yorkshire Mafia Conference will be held at the Leeds Royal Armouries  from Wednesday 21st March – Thursday 22nd March 2012. If you want to find out more about this Conference such as seminars and who will be exhibiting you can visit the official conference website here.

There are over 3000 delegates coming to the conference and over 155 exhibitors, with SMileS SMS & ME Consultancy Ltd being one of those exhibitors. Seeing as the conference is going to be filled with plenty to do we thought we better tell you why you need to pay our stand a visit!

Firstly, if you visit our stand you will be able to learn more about what we do and we may offer up some services/products that might be of interest to you.

ME Consultancy provide customers with advice on their telecoms expenditure and implement telecoms solutions that will give you the best value for money from the services required. We can provide a full review of voice and data spend and provide access to a wide range of products from the BT retail and wholesale portfolio. Feel free to bring your bills along to the conference and we will do a free review there and then and identify any areas of cost saving or if you have any queries about your telecoms we would be happy to advise you on these matters.

Our sister company SMileS SMS is a business text messaging service. If you have any questions about Mobile Marketing then we are the stand for you.  We can talk you through the range of SMS technologies we have on offer and how you can use them to effectively engage with your customers. We will also be able to show your how our SMileS portal works, so we can show you how simple it is to set up campaigns, upload your database and how you can monitor the success of campaigns through statistics. We also have some great offers for you on the day including discount on keywords, managed service and credit/text bundles. We will also have one of our biggest SMileS customers – Total Fitness with us so they can tell you how texting works for them.

The second reason to visit our stand is there’ll be cake! Every Friday in our office we have #CakeFriday which is when Sara (our boss) from the team bakes cakes and buns for the office, we tweet about it and often have visitors in on this day. We take the #CakeFriday ethos to all the conferences we exhibit at so why not come say Hi, have a chat with us and grab yourself a cake!

The attendence of the event was fantastic not only did we get to catch up with familar faces of the group but we also got to meet lots of new faces; who have either only just learnt aboutthe networking group or have only just got round to attending a meet up. As always it was great to learn about all the new projects and plans members have for the upcoming months, but it was also great to bring a new energy to the group through all the new faces. We always look forward to welcoming new members to the meet ups as it generates more propects within the group and helps develop new business relationships.

We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone that attended the meet up today and if you didn’t get chance to come along today why not try come along to the next meet up which will be held on Wednesday 15th February.
