The Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust
SMileS has been involved in many of The Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust events to help with fundraising. Over the past few years the team has always been involved in ‘Tinsel Tuesday.’ If you want to know more about this event then please see the follow features in The Huddersfield Examiner – ‘Christmas Gifts at the Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust‘ and ‘SMileS SMS helps Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust.’
We also sponsored their 2011 and 2012 Charity Calendar. If you haven’t already got a copy of the calendar you can purchase it online at www.lauracranetrustprojects.org. Or the calendars are available to purchase from both the Galpharm Stadium Superstore and town center Sporting Pride store (12 Cloth Hall Street) priced at £7.
Over the next few months members of our team are also participating in The Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust Dragon Boat Challenge which has been organised by Huddersfield & Wakefield Rotary Club. This event will take place on Saturday 7th July at Pugneys County Park Lake, Wakefield. Paul from our team is also doing a 500ft long, 65ft high Zipslide across the Galpharm Stadium on Saturday the 8th September all to raise money for the trust.
The Prince’s Trust
SMileS SMS were delighted to become a member of The Prince’s Trust Yorkshire Leadership Group having seen the work that The Prince’s Trust does and the difference it makes to the lives of those they help. We became members of this group after donating money to The Prince’s Trust; to see an example of how our money has helped please read the following article ‘SMileS funding helps to give Kirklees women a brighter future’ which featured in The Huddersfield Examiner.
Little Book of Poems fundraising for Kirkwood Hospice
Little Book of Poems is a pocket sized book written in support of people living with life threatening illness, their families, friends and carers. All the fundraising money raised by the book will go to the Kirkwood Hospice Family Care team.
We’ve worked with little Book of Poems to set up a text donation campaign for them to receive donations for the production of the book. We did originally refer LBOP to ‘JustTextGiving’ but as Jenni is fundraising exclusively for the ‘Family Care team’ she couldn’t use ‘JustTextGiving’ as the money would go directly to Kirkwood Hospice. Leading to Jenni using us for her text donation campaign, which is now active and you can show your support by texting POEM to 78484 (texts cost £1.50 plus one standard network message.)
In addition, to providing the text donation solution for LBOP we have also become book sponsors. Businesses can do this by making a donation of either £50 or £500 towards the Little Book of Poems, click here if you want to know more about how you can become a book sponsor.
Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice
Back in May 2011 the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice charity CEO Peter Branson awarded ME Consultancy the contract to supply broadband to outlets owned by the charity as well as providing the telecoms requirements for the new hospice building. Our work with the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice has helped the hospice save over £30,000 on the phone line installations at their new hospice building. For more details on this please read the following article from The Huddersfield Examiner ‘Answering call to help hospice.’
