Business Link Yorkshire Mafia feature

We’ve featured in this month’s edition of Business Link Magazine in the section about The Yorkshire Mafia Conference.

We can’t wait until we will be exhibiting at The Yorkshire Mafia Conference, which is being held at Leeds Royal Armouries, on Wednesday 21st and Thursday 22nd March. And we are delighted to be involved in delivering the text messaging solutions for the Conference. Texting is a great channel of communication for the Yorkshire Mafia; in particular for the conference as it will allow them to quickly communicate updates and reminders to the delegates and exhibitors attending the YMC2012.

This isn’t the first time the Yorkshire Mafia has used SMileS, here’s what Geoff Shepherd (Yorkshire Mafia Founder) had to say about SMileS in last years Yorkshire Mafia Conference 2011 showguide;  “Mark Evans and SMileS have been with us since the outset. They’re big fans of The Yorkshire Mafia and we’re big fans of theirs. These guys do the text messaging solutions for the Conference and The Yorkshire Mafia group and we’ve come to rely on their service. It’s simple, smart and highly effective.”

Christmas Gifts at the Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust

Read the original article on The Examiner Website.

SOMETIMES they end up in tears but volunteers at the Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust are aiming to brighten the Christmas of young people stuck in hospital.

The team at the Quay Street offices spend the whole festive period up to December 25 hard at work preparing gifts to send to young cancer patients in hospital.

And the letters and thank-you cards the charity receive back from the 13 to 24-year-olds can be very emotional.

Trust manager Pam Thornes told the Examiner of a particularly touching story from last year’s Christmas gift program.

Latest SMileS Testimonials – ‘Roses Cleaning Services’ ‘Rushfirth Creative’ ‘In ‘n’ Out’

“I have used your texting services now for the last couple of years and with fantastic results. Together we have done four shots with the mobile numbers you collected onto a spread sheet for future use. The cost of this has been around £500 with business to me in return worth over £3000 what a fantastic result. I have tried many avenues to advertise Roses Cleaning Services over the years but this has been the best by far. I have already recommended you to other people and will continue to do so. I look forward to working with you and the team in the furure and wish you all the best.”

SMileS & MEC join the ‘Last Friday Club’ Movember campaign….TEAM Bar Eleven Halifax

Follow MovemberUK on Twitter or on http://www.movember.com

Two members from our team have decided to get involved with Movember UK.

Movember takes place in November each year. Men all over the world start sprouting moustaches to help raise awareness for men’s health specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that can affect men. This results in the ‘Movember Effect’: Awareness, Education, Survivorship & Research. The funds raised in the UK support number one and two male specific cancers, The Prostate Cancer Charity and the Institute of Cancer Research.

Last Friday club  is a networking event in Halifax on the last Friday of every month at Bar Eleven. The networking group are actively taking part in raising awareness for Movember with the members teaming up to raise money for The Prostate Cancer Charity and the Institute of Cancer Research.

Our team is ‘Bar Eleven Halifax’ and at the moment consists of five members, Bar Eleven, Jason Costello from Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, Danny Matharu from Hillrich, Mark Evans from SMileS and Paul Robertshaw from ME Consultancy

SMileS exhibit at Techmesh IT & Telecoms EXPO 2011

ME Consultancy Ltd had a great day exhibiting at the Techmesh IT & Telecoms EXPO last Thursday at Leeds Royal Armouires.

The conference was a great day for us which started at the early time of 7am to avoid the busy traffic in Leeds (which we still got stuck in). We arrived at the conference for around 8.15am and finished setting up our stand. Which didn’t take too long as Mark and Paul had already taken over the majority of our stuff the day before along with our very heavy Touch Tower; which we take along to many conferences and can be very tricky to transport, however this conference was on the ground floor which made it all a lot easier! And thanks to the guys working at Royal Armouires who helped us get the touch tower in and out of the car (see our slideshow for photos.)

Although we were exhibiting as ME Consultancy Ltd we focused most of our efforts on promoting SMileS our SMS marketing software platform. Which turned out to be a great success with many fellow exhibitors and delegates taking a great interest in our SMileS SMS online platform; leading to some great new contacts and business prospects.

SMileS & MEC at Kirklees Business Conference 2011

Yesterday was the long awaited Kirklees Business Conference. We were proud sponsors of the event and the day was a great success for all involved for generating new contacts and generating potential business leads.

On the day we were exhibiting on stands 24 & 25 and joined forces with Code Blue communications to combine our resources and offer a wider range of products and services for our clients. We also exhibited as SMileS SMS – our online SMS platform. We had a great reception from many delegates at the conference with many wanting to learn more about SMS marketing and many had heard of SMileS before.

As a sponsor of the event we sent out a reminder text to all members who had registered their mobile number for the event, which was a great start of for introducing what we do when people visited our stand. The conference had a brilliant friendly atmosphere, not only did we see many familiar faces but met lots of potential new contacts. We also got a chance to visit some of the great seminars that were running throughout the day including ‘Nicky Pattinson – Show Business Selling’ and ‘Dean Hoyle – A frank Q&A with Kirklees highest profile entrepreneur ‘. In Dean Hoyle’s seminar he answered questions from the audience. Prior to the seminar Danny Mathuru had asked each person attending the seminar to think of a question they wanted to ask; and from this eleven were selected. Within those questions selected was from Mark Evans, the owner of SMileS & MEC. The question he asked Dean was ‘No matter how nicely you try to treat people around you, some people can shock you at how they behave in return. Did this ever worry you, but more importantly, how did you respond?’ Dean’s answer would make your jaw drop, his biggest rival had spoken to all its suppliers and forced them to stop supplying Dean, meaning he lost 70% of his supplies overnight.  Rather than let this get him down, Dean turned the card industry upside down, he employed a team of designers, printers etc all in house meaning he no longer relied on those previous suppliers.  This made Dean’s business very agile and stripped the inflated costs out too.  Dean came back stronger, cheaper and more profitable.  And the rest is history, well done Dean.

Kirklees Business News – KBC Danny Matharu

Danny Matharu, of Hllrich – Kirklees Business News – Business News – Business from @examiner.

By Kirklees Business Conference Events Director Danny Matharu

HAVING lived in Kirklees practically all my life up until 2008, I had always been based business-wise in Leeds, Bradford and South Yorkshire.

In 2008, I moved my business home to Kirklees and realised that although I knew masses of businesses around Yorkshire, one place I did not know so many was in Kirklees.

After spending some time out and about in our district, I soon realised that it was and still is (in my opinion) the most friendly and open place in which to do business.

From here, I wanted to be able to assist the area in becoming financially stronger.

SMileS cake contribution for FMNCH at the Kirklees Business Conference

As you may have read on previous posts or guessed from our tweets about the Kirklees Business Conference – SMileS (part of ME Consultancy Ltd) are proud  sponsors and exhibitors of the conference.

Many people and fellow businesses know that every Friday we have #Cake Friday and is a long running tradition in our office. It is where Sara makes home made cakes for the office from our own eggs on site.   Not only does our team look forward to #Cake Friday (we couldn’t think of a better way to finish a busy working week) but it has also proved very popular with our customers. Whenever we have meetings we always find people are asking to come in on a Friday as they’ve heard all about Cake Friday. It has also been a big seller when meeting with potential new customers as it makes them feel more welcome all of which helps establish a good working relationship.

We also take our #Cake Friday theme along to many events we attend as its a great way for people to recognise us as we tweet about it on the run up to the event and it encourages more people to visit our stand.
