Bio

As an experienced PA I decided to break free from the confines of a 9 to 5 job and started my own business as a Virtual Assistant.  My clients range from a businessman who is disabled, right through to manufacturing companies in Yorkshire and Lancashire.  My job is to relieve clients of their admin stresses so that they can concentrate on achieving their business objectives.  Clients get all the benefits of a PA without the added costs.  Being able to outsource the tasks that you either don’t have time to do, or don’t like doing makes good business sense.  You just pay for the actual work we do but without the holiday pay, sick pay etc.

We can help businesses by taking on their call answering or we can make calls on their behalf.  We do internet research, diary management, digital transcription, typing up reports, attend meetings, organise conferences and exhibitions, or even pick up the dry cleaning.  The list is endless.

Having been a secretary/PA/Marketing Manager ever since I left school, so it seemed an obvious path to take.  I work from home, so I don’t have the additional overhead costs (or the commute)!

In my spare time, I am slave to two grown up children, a hubby, two dogs and four horses!  I do enjoy supporting my daughters who compete in British Dressage Competitions and County Showing.

I’m also doing a Diploma in Digital Marketing with the Chartered Institute of Marketing, most of which is online. However, I do like to read whenever I get chance!

Yesterday, I attended a great event which was recommended to me by Jane Mellor (Efficient PA) who I met at another networking event ‘MYnetwork’ last week. I’m very new to networking as I’ve just started a marketing placement at ‘ME Consultancy Ltd’; this event was a great introduction into networking as it’s informal and friendly. It’s strictly women only and is a great way to meet ladies from the local area who either own their own business or work in various different industries. It’s also a great event for individuals wanting to network for a specific purpose as in your 1 minute slot you can inform people of what you’re looking for, for example; looking for people with contacts in the beauty industry to stock a new range of products. To follow events and to get more information about ‘Ladies 4 Networking Huddersfield) you can find them on Linked In. Please read the rest of this post if you want to know more about the format of this networking event meet up. I would also suggest anyone going along to the event to take plenty of business cards and various promotional materials they may have to help ensure that people remember your business and can get in contact with you.

Yesterday, we had this months ‘MYnetwork’ meet up the event was a great success with over 60 people turning up, which is the best meet up so far. Since the new name was revealed for the group the event seems to have picked up even more momentum and has drawn many new faces to the event. This is a great sign showing that the ‘MYnetwork’ group is going from strength to strength and is a beneficial networking group to be a part of. One new face at the meet up was Maxine from ‘Alexandra House Spa’ in Huddersfield. Alexandra house is a great local business within Kirklees and recently came runner up in the Examiner’s ‘Business of the Year Awards 2011’. ‘MYnetwork’ is all about getting business people together in a friendly and informal environment which helps bring contacts together and encourages local businesses to work together.
