SMileS Sponsers charity CD launch at HMV on Saturday 23rd July (1pm) in Aid of The Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust

In a story of hard work and true determination a local Community pull together to help their local based charity The Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust.

Just over a year ago, a small group of women – the Colne Valley Ladies Circle were trying to think of a new and unique fundraiser for the year. They had an idea one night, after a few glasses of wine (actually quite a lot), to record a single and sell it for their chosen charity. They somehow managed to persuade the local super league rugby team (The Huddersfield Giants) to sing with them and off they all went to the studio to record their chosen song ‘Keep on Moving’. An upbeat and cheery song, but very powerful and meaningful words if you think about what these young patients must be going through. (words at bottom of the post)

After weeks of hard work and editing the girls created their own cd, cover and even promotional video, they have done absolutely everything themselves – an amazingly talented bunch! It soon became apparent how good their idea was as everywhere they went people loved it and wanted to help, they even got a radio debut on the Pulse FM!!! Everyone who see’s the video and hears the song can see how much fun they all had, but the message is still clear. They have raised over £3500 so far from CD sales and donations, and were able to be in profit from the very first sale due to the kind sponsorship of two local companies SMileS and Caboodle. They recently Scooped a National Award for their efforts with the single (From the NALC – National Association of Ladies Circle).

In the final chapter of this story, as if all that wasnt enough, high street giants HMV are backing the project and will be stocking the cd from 1pm this Saturday 23rd July in the Huddersfield branch. There will be a launch in store at this time. Anyone is welcome to come along and celebrate!!

Both Pulse FM and BBC Radio Leeds will be plugging the launch this week……

Song Lyrics:

I woke up today with this feeling.
That better things are coming my way.
And if the sunshine has a meaning, It’s telling me not to let things get in my way

When the rainy days are dying,
Gotta keep on, keep on trying
All the bees and birds are flying
Never let go gotta hold on and
Non stop ’til the break of dawn and
Keep moving, don’t stop rocking

Get on up, When you’re down, – baby,
Take a good look around.
I know it’s not much, But it’s okay.
We’ll Keep on movin’ on anyway

Feels like I should be screaming,
Trying to get it through to my friends.
Sometimes it feels that life has no meaning, But I know things will be alright in the end

When the rainy days are dying,
Gotta keep on, keep on trying
All the bees and birds are flying
Never let go gotta hold on and
Non stop ’til the break of dawn and
Keep moving, don’t stop rocking

Get on up When you’re down, – baby,
Take a good look around.
I know it’s not much, But it’s okay.
We’ll Keep on movin’ on anyway
